Fast Facts on the Flu
How
much do you really know about the Flu? What kinds of
symptoms characterize this year's flu, and which medications
best treat the symptoms? Child care providers and teachers
can better manage the health of the children in their care
when they are armed with the facts. The prevention
strategies should be shared with children in developmentally
appropriate ways, while all of the information about the flu
including prevention strategies, medication administration,
and caring for a child with the flu should be shared with
the parents in your program.
The Center for Health in Schools in Washington, D.C. has
developed a fact sheet for this year's heavy-duty strain of
the flu.
"Flu is an unwelcome visitor to many homes and
communities this winter. Schools can help educate students,
their families, and school staff about how to reduce the
chance of getting the flu as well as reduce the likelihood
of spreading flu to others. Information from the experts is
available from the link below. "
