The U.S Maternal and Child Health Bureau runs this site developed to give families and child care providers the latest information on health and safety issues for young children.  This site also allows you to look up your state’s licensing regulations.  http://nrc.uchsc.edu

  

Consumer Product Safety Commission

The National Program for Playground Safety

This program, out of the University of Iowa in Cedar Falls,  is an organization dedicated solely to making America’s playgrounds safer for America’s children.  Their monthly newsletter can be viewed and downloaded, as can lots of helpful playground safety information.  www.uni.edu/playground

 

The ABC's of Child Care

An online handbook for child care providers describing injury and disease information, and fact sheets about common childhood illness’ and other health conditions.  Developed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the handbook is widely considered to be the most complete information on childhood disease and illness for child care providers.  www.cdc.gov/ncidod/hip/abc/contents/htm

 

Healthy Child Care America  

This site describes work being done throughout the nation via the Healthy Child Care America initiative, which began in 1996.  It includes free resources developed by states, and deals mainly with health and safety practices in the child care community. www.healthychildcare.org

President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports
