Child Care Health Consultants of Wisconsin

As a child care provider, have you ever needed assistance in understanding aspects of children's health conditions?  Have you struggled with explaining the Child Care Exclusion Guidelines to your Center's families' and adopting them into your policies?  Have you had a question on children’s health and weren’t sure who to contact?  Do you have a child with special health care needs and are looking for guidance in meeting that child’s needs?

There is an initiative in Wisconsin aimed at meeting the health and safety needs of children in both group and family child care settings.  The Child Care Health Consultants of Wisconsin (CCHC) is a network of nurses throughout the state, hired by the Centers of Excellence, resource and referral agencies, and public health departments.  Child Care Health Consultants provide knowledge based practices which promote and support the well being of children in child care settings, through collaborative efforts with child care providers, families, and community.

Child Care Health Consultants have a variety of roles and responsibilities, dependent upon the employing agency.  Some of the fundamental roles are listed below:
